By Ray Hamill — The Arcata Tigers got their first win of the football season on Saturday, beating Willits 20-7 at the Redwood Bowl.
The Tigers won with some suffocating defense and some timely offense from both the running game and passing attack, including three TD passes, two by sophomore QB Shane Purcell and one by senior quarterback Mathew Robinson, whom head coach Jamal Jones has described as the purest passer in the county.
