The Humboldt B52s won their seventh straight game on Sunday, defeating the Sonoma County Tigers 2-1 in extra innings at Bomber Field.
The two teams combined for just nine hits, with the B52s securing the walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Tommy Gale got the win on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings in relief of starter Karter Koch, and allowing just four hits on three walks.
Gale also struck out six.
Koch was almost as effective through the opening five innings, allowing just one run on one hit and three walks, while striking out eight.
At the plate, Ethan Fischel had a double and drove in one of his team’s two runs, while Braeden Holliday had a double.
Cody Banks and Brian Orr rounded out a four-hit team performance, with Orr driving in the B52s’ other run.
The B52s, who have not lost since dropping two straight to the Humboldt Crabs, are now 17-8.
They will host the Humboldt Eagles 19U on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
PUF Caps 3, Humboldt Crabs 1
The Humboldt Crabs were unable to secure the weekend sweep over the PUF Caps on Sunday, falling 3-1 at the Arcata Ball Park.
One day after overcoming a four-run deficit in the ninth inning on the way to a dramatic walk-off win, the Crabs managed just four hits all game and trailed by three heading into the final inning.
Dylan Johnson had two of the home team’s hits, while Evan Gibbons pitched four innings for the loss.
The Crabs, who dropped to 17-12, will open a two-game stand against the San Leandro Ports on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Ball Park.
