The Humboldt Crabs made it two for two against the Humboldt B52s in a high-scoring game on Wednesday night, running out to a 12-9 win at the Arcata Ball Park.

The Crabs scored five times in the bottom of the first to open up a commanding advantage and led 8-1 after three.

But the B52s refused to go down quietly, battling back with four runs in the top of the fourth and three in the top of the ninth to make for an interesting finish.

In the end, however, the Crabs were able to hold on for their fourth straight win, evening their record at 10-10.

Both teams’ bats came to play with 24 hits combined including nine extra-base hits and three home runs.

Jeff Giacomini and Tommy Gale each had a home run for the B52s, while Damian Henderson hit a first-inning grand slam for the home team, giving him six home runs on the season and putting him in serious contention to break the team record for a single season.

Ryan Higgins finished 3-for-5 for the Crabs, while teammate Dawson Bacho and Henderson each finished with two hits, including two doubles by Bacho.

Kokko Figueiredo added a triple for the Crabs.

For the B52s, Giacomini, Gale and Ethan Fischel each finished with two hits, including a double by Fischel.

Nick Tabura got the win on the mound, allowing two hits in three innings work, while Cade Sheets took the loss for the B52s.

The Crabs will host the California Expos this weekend, with a three-game series starting on Friday night.

The B52s, who dropped to 10-8, will play Team Australia at Bomber Field on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
