The Humboldt Eagles gave pitcher Hayden Bode plenty of run support in Thursday’s opening game at the Muckdogs Wood Bat Invitational in Reno, as the local 17U American Legion team ran out to an easy 17-1 win over the WC Kings in five innings.
The Eagles had a 20-hit day, including three home runs, with Keenan Morris leading the way and finishing 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Bode helped his own cause with a pair of hits, including a home run, as well as driving in three runs.
On the hill, he pitched four innings for the win, before Morris took over in relief.
Bode Joyner also had a home run for the high-scoring Eagles, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Jenner Christiansen, Zac Anderson, Brayden Youkey, Parker Rodgers and Ethan Pesch each also finished with a pair of hits in the win, including two doubles by Christiansen.
Ben Tehan added a double.
The Eagles will continue tourney play against the West Coast Kings Black squad on Friday morning, before playing the Muckdogs on Friday afternoon.
