By Ray Hamill — As one of the highlights of the team’s 75th anniversary season, the Humboldt Crabs will induct 10 new members to their Hall of Fame on alumni weekend.
The 2019 class of inductees includes two legendary local fans as well as Arcata High pitcher Gregg Reynolds, who starred for the Crabs in the early 2000s.
The festivities will take place on Saturday July 6, with the new class being introduced to the fans before that night’s game against the P.U.F. Caps.
There will also be a fireworks display on the field after the game.
In addition to Reynolds, this year’s class includes long-time fans Baseball Betty and Al Masterson.
Reynolds, who also played for the University of the Pacific, was a Crabs player for three years from 2002-04.
This year’s class truly represents the team’s long and storied history, with players from seven of the eight different decades included.
From the 90s and early 2000s, David Ferres, Hans Smith and Joe Gallaty will be inducted, as will Eric Gunderson, who played in 1985 and 1986.
Rounding out the 2019 class are Ken Dunaway, Wade Hammond and Larry Taylor.
After playing the Solano Mudcats on July 4th, the Crabs will play the P.U.F. Caps on three straight days over Alumni Weekend.
Gates open at 6 p.m. on the Saturday night.
