Humboldt mountain bikers impress at state championship

The Humboldt Composite mountain biking team recently closed out the spring season with a strong showing at the state championship race in Tehachapi, placing fifth as a team out of 37 teams in their division.

The Humboldt team, made up of riders from several local high schools, was led once again by senior Meigan Butler, who placed fifth out of 37 riders in the girls varsity race.

Four other local riders made the 10-hour trip for the prestigious race.

In the JV girls race, Elizabeth Odell finished sixth out of 81 riders, with teammate Vivian Gerstein 19th.

In the freshman boys race, Humboldt’s Rocco Previde was 27th out of 67 riders, while in the JV boys race, teammate Ethan Hunt placed 67th out of 82 riders.
