So far so good for Fortuna’s Katie Hurst at the CIF state track and field championships.
On Friday, the Huskies senior qualified for Saturday’s finals in the girls high jump, posting a best mark of five feet, four inches.
Hurst, who is one of 12 athletes to advance to Saturday’s final, was tied for the ninth best mark on the opening day.
In a crowded field, however, the Fortuna star was just one inch off the top mark of the day.
Hurst is making her fourth appearance at the prestigious meet.
Her Fortuna teammate Camrin Dolcini also qualified for the state championships in the 100 meter hurdles, making her first trip to the big meet.
Dolcini placed 23rd in the preliminaries on Friday with a time of 15.79 seconds, but did not advance to Saturday’s final.
