Dodgeball tournament a big hit at Eureka High

Last weekend’s dodgeball tournament at Eureka High School was so well received, the Loggers are planning on making it an annual event.

The fundraiser for the 2019 Safe and Sober Class raised more than $2000, with interest in the the tournament surprising even the event organizers. who described it as a “huge hit.”

The winning team was sponsored by American Auto Detail and made up of Eureka High students.


Submitted photo – Teams from the Eureka Police Department, the Humboldt Bay Fire Fighters, and the Humboldt County Sheriffs Department all competed in Sunday’s dodgeball tournament.

In the championship, they defeated “The Average Po-Pos,” a team featuring Eureka police officers.

Humboldt Bay fire fighters and the Humboldt County Sheriffs Department each also had teams involved, and, according to organizers, all of them have already committed to compete again next year.

The tournament featured 13 teams in total and roughly 100 competitors, and also included a mini dodgeball game for some of the younger spectators on hand.

The winning team included Tyce Mullins, Brooklyn Biagi, Olivia Stone, Paige Lyons, John Foster, Isaak Guiterrez , Avondre Bell and Isley Tulmau.
