Disappointing season winding down for HSU softball

It’s been a disappointing season for the Humboldt State women in softball, as the Jacks get set to host Cal State Monterey in their season finales this weekend.

The Jacks are 19-27 overall and 10-24 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings, while Monterey comes in at 21-15 and 25-21.

Senior Rylie Carlier has been leading the way at the plate for the Jacks, batting .364 with six home runs, both team highs, and driving in 24 runs.

Hailey Sutter (.339), Danica Grier (.329) and Haley Illa (.300) are each also batting at least .300 on the spring.

Grier has team highs in doubles (13) and RBIs (30), while Mariah Tovar has made her presence felt with a team best 30 RBIs.

HSU and Monterey will play doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, with first pitch at 1 p.m. on Friday and at 11 a.m. the following day.
