Corsairs end skid with 9-6 win at Shasta

The College of the Redwoods baseball team ended a nine-game losing streak with a 9-6 win at Shasta on Saturday to close out a three-game weekend series.

James Garcia capped a big weekend with the win on the mound, as well as going 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

The Corsairs broke open a tight game with six runs in the top of the sixth, and were able to hold on despite a late Shasta rally.

Angelo Flores and Andrew Enwiyan each had a pair of hits in the win, with Kyle Wallace-Cabanas going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Logan Thrap pitched the final inning for the save.

Garcia also had a pair of hits in a 6-5 loss to Shasta on Friday night.

In Saturday’s opener, CR was held to just three hits in a 6-2 loss.

Garcia and Garrett Johnson each had a hit and an RBI, while Gannon Cyphers also had a hit.

Garrett Poblick took the loss on the mound.

CR is now 3-19 overall and 2-10 in the Golden Valley Conference.

The Corsairs will host Lassen in a three-game stand next weekend.
