The College of the Redwoods softball team is on the road again this weekend, not an unusual occurrence for the Corsairs this time of the year.
The CR women, in fact, will have traveled for five weekends to start the season before eventually hosting a game in early April.
This weekend, the Corsairs traveled to the Bay Area to get in some games, falling at West Valley on Friday, and playing two more at San Jose on Saturday.
On Friday, the Corsairs took an early lead before giving up a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings, eventually losing 4-1.
Lindsey Scott, who has been impressive at times in the pitcher’s circle through the early season, took the loss, allowing six hits, while striking out two and walking three.
Scott helped her own cause at the plate with one of the team’s five hits.
Amy Reyes led CR offensively, finishing 2-for-3, while Bronwyn Gilfillan and Becca Tripp each added a hit.
West Valley improved to 6-6.
The Corsairs, who dropped to 4-9, will try to bounce back in Saturday’s doubleheader, which gets under way at 10 a.m.
A second scheduled game on Friday, against Cabrillo, was canceled due to the weather.
