The Arcata boys tennis team began the new season with a comprehensive 7-0 win over St. Bernard’s at home on Friday.
The defending league champions got straight set wins in all four singles matches, dropping just a single game along the way.
Leo Janzen defeated St. Bernard’s Robin Zhao at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Addison Childs defeated Peter Mak 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
Tristan Washington and Art Frye each also won in singles for the home team.
In doubles play, Janzen and Spencer Olson defeated Zhao and Mak 8-1.
Washington and Frye teamed up to top Quan To and Louis He at No. 2 doubles, while Austin Costello-Anderson and Archer Brayton defeated Leikey LimLei and Shane Zhao at No. 3.
The Tigers host Eureka at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
