The Ferndale Wildcats honored their seniors before Friday night’s Little 4 boys basketball game against South Fork, with many of them playing their final home game.
And the group of seniors seemed to relish the occasion, leading the way for the Cats in a 71-61 loss.
Leading scorer for Ferndale was senior Gio Magdaleno, who finished with 16 points, while fellow senior Kyler Becksted finished with 10 points.
The Cats, who faded late in what was a competitive matchup, close out league play with a record of 0-6 and dropped to 8-14 overall.
Another senior, Ben Wilma, had a big impact off the bench, finishing with nine points.
Junior Tristen Martin also had a big night, finishing with 11 points.
South Fork had five players score in double digits, including Alex Harding with 15, Cody Wyatt and CJ Van Meter with 14 each, and Graham McConnell and Riley Gallagher with 10 apiece.
The Cubs improved to 3-3 in the Little 4 with the win, and 10-12 overall.
The Wildcats are currently the 12th ranked team in the North Coast Section Division-VI bracket, one spot behind South Fork, with St. Bernard’s at No. 7.
Ferndale plays at Calistoga on Saturday, and has games next week at both Round Valley and Archbishop Hanna.
