Prep Roundup — Cubs beat Point Arena; Cats fall at Calistoga

The South Fork Cubs will carry some momentum into next week’s Dick Niclai Memorial Tournament after coming away from Point Arena on Saturday with a 67-53 win.

With the win, their second in 24 hours, the Cubs improved to 11-12 on the season.

Riley Gallagher continued his impressive season with a team-high 20 points in the win, including six 3-pointers, while Cody Wyatt and CJ Van Meter each finished with 16 points.

Wyatt had three 3s.

South Fork will host St. Bernard’s on Tuesday night to open the Niclai tournament.

In other prep basketball action on Saturday, the Ferndale Wildcats lost at Calistoga by a score of 43-36.

There was little to separate the two teams in the opening half, with the score tied at 25-25 at halftime, before the home gradually pulled away.

The Cats were held to just two points in the fourth quarter.

The Cats are now 8-15.

  1. Don’t ask me to feel sorry for the Ferndale team. After the garbage language and signs shown to the Hoopa team and fans, the other schools should refuse to play them for one year!
