Prep Roundup – Fortuna boys win at Windsor

The Fortuna boys resumed their winning ways on the basketball court after a short Christmas break, defeating Analy 83-48 at the Windsor Tournament on Wednesday.

Zac Claus had 27 points for Fortuna, which improved to 12-0.

Bradley Willis also had a big night, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Donald Willis had 15 points and Drew Gillette 11 points.

The Huskies continue tournament play on Thursday.

Arcata 52, Huntington Park 33

The Arcata boys defeated Huntington Park by 19 points to open play at the Marin Catholic tournament on Wednesday.

Jaden Gorge scored a team-high 19 points for the Tigers, including five 3-pointers, while teammate Garrett Hall finished with nine points.

The Tigers, who improved to 6-6, will continue tournament play against either Washington or Marin Catholic on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Girls

McKinleyville 77, Carson 73

The Panthers opened the Tracy tournament with a hard-fought win over Carson on Wednesday night.

McKinleyville’s Hailee Henry hit a late 3-pointer to tie the game, before Cameron Heenan hit a basket plus a free throw for the decisive lead, after both teams had battled back and forth most of the night, with the score tied at 58-58 heading into the final quarter.

McKinleyville head coach Tony McClure said it was another good team effort from his players, who had to rally from a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit.

Rayn Tripp continued her impressive season for the Mack girls, finishing with a team-high 16 points, while teammate Cameron Heenan also impressed with 15 points.

Theresa Dickey added 10 points as the Panthers improved to 9-3 on the season, while Grace Rosebrook finished with nine and Henry eight.

The McKinleyville girls continue tournament play on Thursday.
