By Ray Hamill — The Eureka Loggers finally found out who they’ll play in next week’s semifinals, as the North Coast Section playoffs resumed play on Saturday.

The Loggers, who are seeded second in the Division-III bracket, will play No. 3 Las Lomas at Albee Stadium next Saturday, after the Knights defeated Terra Linda 42-0 in their quarterfinal this weekend.

In other Division-III action, top seed Cardinal Newman scored 35 unanswered points in the first half on the way to beating Encinal 56-21, setting up a semifinal showdown at home to No. 4 El Cerrito, which defeated Miramonte 44-21.

In other games on Saturday, Fortuna comfortably took care of Kennedy in Richmond by a score of 42-18, setting up what will be a highly-anticipated rematch at No. 2 seed Del Norte in the Division-IV semifinal.

That game is scheduled for next Saturday night in Crescent City.

The two Big 4 rivals played two high-scoring games against each other this season, with each team winning on home soil.

The matchup guarantees one Big 4 team will qualify for the NCS championship game.

In other Division-IV games on Saturday, St. Bernard’s fell at San Marin in a thriller, by a score of 49-47, with the winning touchdown coming in the final second of the game.

San Marin will now play at No. 1 seed Moreau Catholic next week after the top seed beat St. Patrick-St. Vincent 53-28.

In the eight-person bracket, top seed Branson defeated Tomales 62-58 in a high-scoring game to set up a championship showdown against No. 2 seed South Fork, which won its semifinal matchup three weeks ago.

In Division V, No. 1 Kelseyville beat No. 8 Cloverdale 40-21, No. 2 Salesian beat No. 7 St. Helena 49-28, and No. 3 Stellar Prep beat No. 6 Berean Christian 32-27.

In Division II, No. 1 Rancho Cotate beat No. 8 American Canyon 42-7, and No. 3 Campolindo beat No. 6 Ukiah 49-14.
