NCS playoff games pushed back again

By Ray Hamill — Fortuna and St. Bernard’s will have to wait a little longer to play their North Coast Section playoff quarterfinals.

Both teams’ games were postponed a second time on Sunday due to the continued poor air quality in the Bay Area caused by the ongoing wild fires.

On Friday it was announced that most of this weekend’s NCS playoff games would be postponed until Monday, including those involving St. Bernard’s and Fortuna.

On Sunday it was announced that most of those games would be pushed back a second time, with no immediate make-up dates set.

St. Bernard’s is the No. 5 seed in Division IV and is scheduled to play at No. 4 San Marin in Novato.

No. 6 Fortuna is also in Division IV and is scheduled to play at No. 3 Kennedy in Richmond.

Only a handful of games managed to go ahead as scheduled this weekend, including the three in Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

All three local teams, Eureka, Del Norte and South Fork, were victorious.
