Several NCS playoff games switched to Monday

By Ray Hamill — Several North Coast Section football playoff games scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been pushed back to Monday because of the poor air quality throughout much of the section caused by the wild fires this week.

Only eight of the 24 NCS games scheduled will go ahead as planned.

Two of the five local teams in action have been affected, with the Fortuna and St. Bernard’s games scheduled for the Bay Area both postponed.

Eureka’s big game against De Anza at Albee Stadium on Friday night has not been affected and will go ahead as scheduled at 7 p.m.

So too will South Fork’s game against Rincon Valley Christian in Miranda and Del Norte’s game with Justin-Siena in Crescent City, each also scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m.

Both Fortuna and St. Bernard’s will now play on Monday instead, with the Crusaders playing at San Marin Marin in Novato at 1 p.m., and the Huskies playing at Kennedy High in Richmond at 7 p.m.
