By Ray Hamill — After an opening-round bye, the top seeds will begin play in the Six Rivers Youth Football playoffs this weekend, with six more games on tap across three age groups.
In AAA, No. 1 seed Ferndale is unbeaten on the year at 7-0 and will be hoping to keep that run going at South Bay Elementary against No. 4 Hoopa, which defeated Eel River Valley 20-7 in the first round last week.
Also playing in AAA, No. 2 seed Del Norte will kick off its playoff campaign in Crescent City against No. 3 seed McKinleyville, which got the better of Redwood 48-6 a week ago.
In AA action, another undefeated top seed will be in action when Eureka Junior League plays Del Norte Blue at South Bay Elementary.
The Eureka team is 8-0 after a dominating regular season.
In the other other AA playoff game at Del Norte, No. 2 seed Del Norte Gold, which finished the regular season 7-1, opens against No. 3 McKinleyville, which defeated Redwood 36-6 last weekend.
Eureka Junior League also has the top seed in single-A play, after also going 8-0 in the regular season.
The Eureka team will play Redwood at South Bay Elementary on Sunday, after Redwood shut out Ferndale 12-0 last week.
No. 2 seed Eel River Valley will open at Del Norte against Del Norte Gold, which defeated McKinleyville in the opening round.
Both single-A games get under way at 9:30 a.m., followed by the AA games at noon, and the AAA games at 2:30 p.m.
