Both College of the Redwoods cross country teams advanced to this weekend’s Community College NorCal meet after strong showings at the Golden Valley Conference championships over the weekend.

The CR women placed second as a team, led by sophomore Maria Overton, who finished second overall in a time of 21 minutes, 57 seconds, trailing only Siskiyous’ Hope Dodgen (20:54).

Amelia Wirth also had a strong showing for the Corsairs, finishing fourth in a time of 23:02.

In the men’s race, CR finished third in the team competition, led by Cadu Whitlock, who placed 11th overall in a time of 25:39.

The NorCal races will be held at Shasta College on Friday.
