By Ray Hamill — Local sports fans will have their choice of big matchups next weekend, especially Cruaders fans.
St. Bernard’s will potentially host a tripleheader of North Coast Section playoff games on Saturday.
The football team will get things started against Albany at noon, followed by the girls soccer team, which opens its playoff run at home to Credo later that afternoon.
And possibly capping it all will be the school’s volleyball team, which will host the NCS Division-VI championship game that night if the Crusaders can get past Calistoga at home in Wednesday’s semifinal.
With the top three seeds in the bracket all losing this weekend, the No. 4 Crusaders are now the highest remaining seed and will host the championship game if they reach it..

The St. Bernard’s soccer team will open the NCS playoffs at home to Credo next weekend.
And the action at St. Bernard’s won’t be the only option available to local sports fans next weekend.
That same afternoon, Humboldt State will say farewell to almost a century of playing football in Arcata with the Jacks’ final home game ever at the Redwood Bowl at 1 p.m.
And a scheduled doubleheader of football action at the picturesque stadium will be capped that night when Arcata hosts Cloverdale in the NCS playoffs.
The Fortuna Huskies will also host an NCS football game at Husky Field on Friday night, against El Molino.
