Sundberg makes her move in girls golf

The final round of girls golf in the Humboldt-Del Norte League is going to be an interesting one.

Phoebe Sundberg made a big move to narrow the gap at the top of the season standings on Tuesday, shooting an 83 to lead the field at Eureka.

The winning score was five strokes better than teammate and league leader Molly Citro, who saw her advantage cut to just one stroke heading into next week’s final round.

The dynamic duo have dominated the league all season, winning three events each and occupying the top two spots in five of the six rounds.

On Tuesday, Sundberg had the hot hand, matching her third best round of the year.

Arcata’s Avary Henry (437) maintained her third place in the standings with a round of 91, one stroke ahead of McKinleyville’s Isabella Sundberg in fourth, who also remained fourth on the season (447).

Eureka’s Raime Young was fifth on the day with a 105, while Mack’s Jayme Willis remains fifth in the season standings (551) after shooting a 110.
