Mack’s Citro widens the gap in prep golf standings

McKinleyville’s Molly Citro stretched her lead in the Humboldt-Del Norte League girls golf standings this week, with a three-stroke win in the latest round of action.

Citro, who has been battling teammate Phoebe Sundberg atop the standings all season, shot an 82 at Beau Pre, three strokes better than Sundberg.

With the win, her third in five events this year, Citro now has a six-point advantage in the season standings, 317-323.

Only two other H-DNL golfers are within 100 strokes of the dominating duo, who have been one-two at four of those five events.

Arcata’s Avary Henry shot a third-best 96 this week to remain third overall (346), while another McKinleyville golfer, Isabella Sundberg, was fourth with a 98 and remains fourth overall, six back of Henry.

Arcata’s Brook Bisgrove and Eureka’s Hannah Arnold tied for fifth on the day with a 115 each.

McKinleyville’s Jayme Willis is fifth in the overall standings, giving the Panthers four of the top five.

The league has two rounds of action remaining.
