A pair of Crescent City youth basketball teams are getting ready to compete in the Oregon State Middle School Championships.
Next week, the program’s fifth and seventh grade boys teams will travel to play in the prestigious tournaments, with the action getting under way on March 14 and running for three days.
The fifth grade team is looking to build on its impressive performance last year, when many of the same players secured second place as fourth graders.
And after coming so close in 2024, this group of young basketball players will be eager to capture a state title this year.
The talented roster includes Isaiah Brunson, Jaylyn Perry, Ruben Lopez, Enoch Murphy, Jayden Parras, Rayce Rested, Kyngston Newton, and Jace Price-Lewis.
The more experienced seventh graders, meanwhile, will be making their first appearance at the state championships.
And the players won’t lack confidence after a successful fall campaign that saw them compete well at several tournaments.
The team includes Asher Fry, Elijah Brunson, La’yeq Alameda, Cody Blue, Izrael Ybarra, Nate Sanchez, Damien Parras, Mason Webster and Thomas King, and is coached by Anthony Alameda.
