
Photo by Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Cal Poly Humboldt men hosted Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday afternoon.
It was a disappointing day for the local college basketball teams, with all four losing conference games.
At Cal Poly Humboldt, the Jacks lost both games of a doubleheader against Cal Poly Pomona, while both College of the Redwoods teams fell at Shasta.
The CPH men lost a competitive and entertaining game by a score of 75-69, while earlier in the day the Humboldt women also lost a close one by a score of 66-61.
The men’s game featured 12 lead changes and was tied at halftime 31-31.
The visitors, however, enjoyed the better of exchanges after the break and led by as many as 10 late in the period.
With the loss, Humboldt falls to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play, while Pomona improves to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in conference action.
The CPH women dropped to 4-4 in the CCAA and 5-9 overall, while Pomona improved to 7-1 and 12-2.
The College of the Redwoods men, meanwhile, traveled to Shasta and fell 90-81.
The Corsairs dropped to 1-1 in The Golden Valley Conference and 14-6 overall, while Shasta improved to 2-0 and 11-8.
The CR women also played at Shasta and lost 60-54.
The Corsairs are now 0-2 in conference and 7-11 overall, while Shasta improved to 1-0 and 11-8.
