After suffering a rare loss on Friday night, the Northern Humboldt Giants will play the Humboldt Eagles in an elimination game at the 17U end-of-season baseball tournament in Fairfield.

Earlier on Friday, the Eagles avoided elimination at the tournament for the second straight day, defeating Napa 8-1 with their most complete performance of the summer.

The Giants, however, lost 10-7 to Yuba, dropping to 2-1 in tournament play.

Yuba (3-0) plated eight runs in the top of the second inning to pull away, with the Giants chipping away at the lead throughout, but eventually running out of time.

Jason DeShaun got the start on the mound and took the loss, although only two of the early eight runs were earned.

Ethan Thomas and William Bommelyn led the way at the plate, with two hits each, including a double by Thomas.

Jared Dixon also had a double, while Vincent Agliolo and Alex Gorge rounded out a seven-hit team performance.

With the loss, the Giants dropped to 32-5-1 on the summer.
