Alex Cappa left off Pro Bowl roster

By Ray Hamill — Despite leading all guards in the NFC in fan voting, former Humboldt State star Alex Cappa failed to make this year’s Pro Bowl roster.

The conference all-star teams were released on Monday afternoon, but Cappa was not included among the three NFC guards selected.

The fan voting accounts for one third of all votes, with players and coaches also voting for the honor.

Cappa, who is in his second year as a starter after being drafted in 2018, closed out the fan voting with 95,058 votes.

Washington’s Brandon Scherff, Green Bay’s Elgton Jenkins and New Orleans’ Andrus Peat were the three guards selected for the NFC.

The Buccaneers are currently fifth in the NFC playoff race, and if they win the conference Cappa would likely become the first former HSU player to start in the Super Bowl since Wendell Hayes back in 1970.
