By Ray Hamill — St. Bernard’s junior pitcher Nick Dugan continues to attract the attention of top baseball scouts, with another stellar performance on Saturday.

Dugan, who has already committed to play at Stanford after graduation, was playing for a group of PAC-12 recruits in a matchup against SEC recruits in Florida, and he did not disappoint.

The St. Bernard’s standout pitched a complete-game seven innings against the SEC recruits, striking out 12 and attracting the attention of some top scouts in attendance.

Gregory Gerard of Perfect Game Scouts tweeted that Dugan got his fastball up to 95 miles per hour on a couple of occasions and displayed “near pinpoint command to either side.”

Dugan, who received several Division-I scholarship offers after a sensational summer pitching for the Humboldt Eagles in 2019, verbally committed to Stanford before his sophomore year.

With two more years of high school ball, however, and the improvement he continues to show, it is likely the Cardinal commit will be drafted high, according to Gerard and Perfect Game Scouts.

Gerard described Dugan as a “name to know for the ’22 MLB Draft,” adding that his fastball never dipped below 91 MPH against the SEC recruits.

It is not the first time Dugan has impressed pro scouts.

He appeared at the prestigious Area Code Games in Georgia in August — which featured some of the top high school players in the nation — and was named to the all-tournament team.
