By Ray Hamill — As they get set for a second night of racing action without fans on August 1, Redwood Acres Raceway officials are confident they have taken care of any issues with the live streaming.

After seeing four race nights canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, the season finally got under way earlier this month, with no fans in attendance and some technical issues with the live streaming.

Those issues, however, have been cleared up, according to raceway officials, with a practice run going smoothly on Wednesday evening.

“We’ve got all those bugs worked out now,” board member Jim Redd said. “I think we’re good to go. The test went really well.”

The raceway will also add a sizable purse for the next event, which will take place a week from Saturday.

With additional sponsorship from North Coast Lighting, Four Star Mini Storage and Vern’s Furniture, the raceway raised $7,000 in prize money, with $3,500 set to be handed out at the next event.

And that means there should be additional cars competing and added interest in the event.

The Legends will have a $1,500 purse while the Bombers and Late Models will have a $1,000 purse, with payouts going as deep as 15th place.

The action will get under way at 3 p.m. and is expected once again to be completed well before dark.
