By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt Eagles 19Us left it late in the opening game of Thursday’s baseball doubleheader against Team Australia, but it was well worth the wait.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles scored three times over the final two innings to pull out the come-from-behind 4-3 win.

Jaden Gorge, a freshman at Shasta College, was instrumental in the late rally, hitting a double in the sixth to score teammate Keenan Morris, who had led off the inning with a double himself.

Gorge tied the game moments later when he scored on a Landon Gomes base hit past the shortstop.

Gorge and Morris were both involved again in the following inning as the Eagles broke the deadlock.

Hayden Bode led off the inning with a single, before pinch runner Zac Anderson was advanced on a Morris single.

With one out, Gorge then drove in Anderson for the winning run with his second base hit of the afternoon.

Check out the late highlights here, including the big hits by Morris, Gorge and Gomes in the sixth inning, as well as Bode’s lead-off single in the seventh and Gorge’s walk-off hit.

The Eagles also won game two, 3-0.
