By Ray Hamill — Former Eureka football player Jake Hanson was chosen by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Hanson, a four-year starter at Oregon, was the 208th player taken in the three-day draft, joining a Packers team that finished one win from a Super Bowl appearance last season.

The 6-foot-4, 303-pound center was taken with the 28th pick of the sixth round.

He was the seventh center taken in this year’s draft.

Hanson graduated Eureka in 2015 and started 49 games at Oregon, after switching from tackle to center.

The former Logger is expected to compete for a back-up spot on the Packers’ roster behind starting center Corey Linsley.
