Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Tickets for Friday’s playoff doubleheader at CR are close to selling out after just a few hours.

By Ray Hamill — Local interest in Friday night’s big doubleheader of basketball playoff action at College of the Redwoods continues to soar.

Tickets went on sale on Wednesday afternoon at noon, and within a few hours all but 50 of the 800 tickets were already sold.

As of 4:50 pm., the CR athletics is no longer taking calls for ticket sales and the last remaining tickets will go on sale at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.

“You should see the office, it’s an absolute zoo,” CR men’s head coach Ryan Bisio said. “People have been coming in droves and the phone’s been off the hook.”

Both Corsairs basketball teams will be in action after each received a No. 8 seed for the NorCal Tournament.

The women get the action under way against No. 9 Skyline at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men and No. 9 Sacramento City College at 7:30 p.m.

Little more than a week after the two programs clinched an historic first-ever double of conference championships, Friday night will be the first time the two teams have hosted playoff games on the same night.

Every home game this season has been played in front of a packed house, with both teams featuring largely local rosters and captivating the North Coast sports community.
