Impressive showings for MIST 18U, 10U

The Mad River MIST got some valuable playing time against some quality opposition last week, turning in some impressive performances at three different softball tournaments.

In addition to the 16U team, which traveled to Fremont and took first place in their bracket there, the 18U and 10U team also traveled for tournaments, their first road trips of the summer.

The 10U girls were in Manteca, playing at the Field of Dreams, and grew stronger as the tournament went on.

After dropping a pair of pool games, the MIST responded with a 6-6 tie against the Santa Rosa Barons, the eventual tournament champions.

The 18U girls, meanwhile, played six games over two days at the USSSA State Tournament in Elk Grove, including an impressive win on Sunday over Easton Elite, a top program and just their second loss all season.

After dropping their opening two games on Saturday, the Humboldt girls responded with back-to-back wins on Sunday, beating the Rohnert Park Rebels before the big win over Easton.

The MIST closed out pool play with a loss to Yard Sharks, another quality team, before dropping their semifinal game against Tri-Valley.

The 18U girls will be back in action next weekend, traveling to Redding along with the MIST 12U team.

The 16U will also be back in action next weekend, playing in Vacaville.
